Suuns share new music video for “Instrument”

Suuns released the widely heralded Hold/Still in April and have consistently been on the road ever since, touring throughout USA and Europe. There are no signs of stopping either with a packed schedule for the rest of the year. The live show is truly both a sight and sound to behold – part live show, part installation, part club – it is an all-round sensory experience. The full tour dates for the rest of 2016 are listed below – a highlight of which will be the band’s curated day at Le Guess Who? Festival alongside Wilco, Julia Holter, and Savages.

To coincide with this tour announcement, Suuns are very excited to share a brand new video for the track “Instrument”, directed by Italian photographer Pamela Maddaleno. This track in particular catches the very essence of Hold/Still – experimental and challenging, a cerebral “headphone” record, which simultaneously works your mind and your limbs. Says Joe Yarmush (guitarist) of the video “Pamela, who is one of the best photographers, approached us to make a video for “Instrument”. Her photos are great and we’ve always wanted to work with her more so we said great. She came up with a strange and beautiful video that goes well with the song.”

Says Maddaleno: “I was captured by Suuns when I saw them live in Paris, where I live, 4 years ago. I started to take B&W analog pictures of their concert every time I could. And every concert I participated was special and unforgettable. I got in touch with them and they liked my work. I take photos and I do video. In 2014 I realized a videoclip for Carla Bozulich (Constellations records) that is called One Hard Man. It was about a man and his obsession. After two years I felt I wanted to go on with another video still on a man but with another obsession. Suuns was coming out with their new album. They were ready to let me interpret one of their new songs. ‘Instrument’ was perfect for me. The video was inspired by the idea that for someone, something very easy could be very hard to do. And this could be a shame, an obsession, a challenge. I wanted to make an abstract videoclip where the character is at the same time object and subject of a strange experiment.”
