Bouquet is a delicate collection of acoustic reimaginings that offers a fresh perspective on some of the most beloved songs from her latest album Basia's Palace. Conceived during a quieter autumn following a whirlwind spring and summer of touring, the EP gathers together the final blooms of this creative chapter into one heartfelt offering. Recorded in Montreal's Mile End with longtime collaborator Andrew Woods behind the board, Bouquet strips the songs back to voice, guitar, and autoharp, allowing them to blossom into entirely new forms. What began as richly layered studio recordings now unfolds with remarkable intimacy, revealing the emotional core of each song while creating space for new arrangements to bloom. 

With Bouquet, Basia Bulat invites listeners into a quieter corner of her musical world—a place where familiar songs can bloom again, where small moments of light are worth gathering, and where music can become a simple offering of warmth and connection. 

The EP revisits "Right Now," "My Angel," and "Disco Polo," with Drew Jurecka's lush string arrangements taking on delicate new shapes, while "Laughter" features an entirely new string arrangement by Kieran Poile.  

“I loved being able to bring this song, originally written on midi while wearing headphones in the earliest morning hours, all the way across the spectrum of sound into something completely acoustic and to my folk beginnings. The lyrics describe running through the mud with my very young daughters, “looking for the first blooms of the spring”. It is not only what I was literally doing at the time or writing the song, but also the spirit I try to keep with me all the time: looking for the first beautiful moments of life and light peeking out through the dark, and celebrating that they made it through,” she says. 

Longtime collaborators Ben Whiteley and Joshua Toal also revisit the material from a different angle. After performing the songs in their full electric arrangements on stage throughout the year, Whiteley returns to the upright bass while Toal exchanges electric guitar for classical guitar, creating an organic interplay that feels both intimate and expansive. Mixed by Andrew Woods and Howard Bilerman, Bouquet serves as a gentle companion piece to The Garden, a collection that feels handcrafted and deeply personal. Like its namesake, the EP gathers together the final blooms of a creative season, offering listeners a moment of tenderness, reflection, and quiet joy. With Bouquet, Basia Bulat invites audiences to rediscover these songs in their most vulnerable form: a thoughtful offering meant to accompany quiet evenings, shared meals, and the softer moments in everyday life.
